– In this presentation, Susan Widmer, the director of the U.S. Commercial Service, Northern New Jersey, and an export expert, will help you discover the possibilities for exporting your products or services.

Some of the topics discussed will be:
– International Trade Counseling to help you develop effective market entry and sales strategies, understand export documentation requirements and foreign import regulations, and navigate through export controls, compliance, and trade financing options.
– Business Matchmaking to connect you with pre-screened potential international business partners (e.g. distributors, importers, etc.) Programs and services are available to promote your product or service to prospective buyers at trade events worldwide and connect you with industry and government decision makers.
– Market Intelligence to support you with analysis of international market potential, competitors, distribution channels, regulations, and other important factors to consider when identifying target markets. Ability to also conduct background checks on potential buyers and distributors.

– Susan Widmer is Director of the Northern NJ office of the Commercial Service, the trade promotion arm of the U.S. Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration. Her team of trade specialists counsel small and medium-sized export ready companies to sell their U.S. made goods and services overseas.
– Susan has been with the Commerce Department for over 25 years, working the past 11 years in New Jersey. She has extensive experience in counseling companies in exporting having traveled and worked on projects throughout the world, most recently in Hong Kong and at the Consulate in Johannesburg, South Africa. In addition, she’s also led trade missions to India and China, and worked on special projects in Egypt, Ecuador, and Greece. She has a bachelor’s degree in Political Economy from Muhlenberg College and a master’s degree in public policy, specializing in international trade policy, from the University of Chicago.
This event is hosted by the NJAWBO Shore Region, which includes members from Middlesex, Monmouth, and Ocean counties.
Women business owners and entrepreneurs from across the state are encouraged to attend.
