Lithium and Copper Extraction and Value Chain Development Opportunities in Argentina

August 23 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Host: Under Secretary for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment Jose W. Fernandez and U.S. Ambassador to Argentina Marc R. Stanley

Please join Under Secretary for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment Jose W. Fernandez, U.S. Ambassador to Argentina Marc R. Stanley, Argentine Secretary of Mining Luis Lucero, and Secretary of International Economic Relations, Ambassador Marcelo Cima, to learn more about lithium and copper extraction opportunities in Argentina. This hybrid event is taking place in Buenos Aires on August 23 as part of Argentina’s membership in the Minerals Security Partnership (MSP) Forum.

Argentina is currently the world’s fourth-largest producer of lithium and has positioned itself to be one of the world’s fastest-growing sources of lithium this decade. Argentina is also one of the leading countries globally for the development of new copper resources, with an estimated 75.5 million metric tons of copper reserves. There are many lithium and copper projects available for investment across several provinces in Argentina. The Government of Argentina recently passed a new Large Investment Incentive Scheme (RIGI) to attract large-scale capital investments into strategic sectors, including mining.

Experts from the Argentine national government will explain the RIGI’s benefits for the mining sector. Provincial mining authorities will describe their specific extraction and value chain investment opportunities.

We look forward to welcoming to this MSP Forum Direct Line hybrid event any U.S. firms and firms from MSP partner countries interested in learning more about these opportunities in Argentina. In-person participation will be limited and by-invitation only.

Please register your virtual participation by August 21, 2024.
